MICRO MUTEK.AE presented by GITEX Future Stars unveils artist line up
Spread across four venues in Dubai, the first wave of programming, MICRO MUTEK.AE presents Hemisphere 141 takes place on 14-17 October at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). The 360° immersive live performances in collaboration with the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) from Montréal were created within its residency art creation program. Shown as part of the world tour SAT Circuit, they will take centre stage within a tri-dimensional and high definition dome, guaranteeing a transformational experience. Hemisphere 141 wraps up on 17 October with a special evening performance by SOTE & TARIK BARRI (IR/NL).
Running parallel to Hemisphere 141 at the Dubai World Trade Centre is Digi Lab, where the Legendary Electronic music producer, A GUY CALLED GERALD (UK) will be hosting workshops. In partnership with Media Cast, this is a chance for the industry to get their hands on the future of music production technology, with the latest electronic music instruments on offer. DIAGRAF, EWERX & WIKLOW (CA) present Liquid Architecture
Using Marcus Novak’s 1991 publication of “Liquid Architectures in Cyberspace”, this collaborative 45-minute performance by Patrick Trudeau, Ehsan Rezaie and Michael Dean, the identities behind the artists, can only be described as beautifully immersive. Liquid Architecture re-represents Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) system data via 3 dimensional scans of historic buildings in astoundingly detailed rendering, while those in attendance are also sonically challenged with an abstract soundtrack.
FRACTION & STARNAULT in collaboration with NATURE GRAPHIQUE & CRÉATION EX NIHILO (FR/CA) present Entropia
Entropia is an immersive performance created from the synergy between surround sound, the direct light of a physical object and 360° projections. It calls to mind the natural synergy between complex multidimensional systems, such as the human system or cell organism, or an atomic or electric particle... to finally reach an equilibrium: chaos.
DESAXISMUNDI & TERMINAL WOLF (FR/CA) present Inertia
Inertia is an audio-visual and immersive study of the movement, speed, strength and resistance of abstract bodies facing physical and temporary changes of their condition. In short: a wide screen performance to experience, not watch.
Nocturne 1 / Stereo Arcade / 18 October
Celebrating 30 years of independence is an artist that is close to our hearts as he has paved the way for generations of artists to set further generations free. That artist is A GUY CALLED GERALD (UK) and with his captivating live sets still astounding and inspiring to this day, MICRO MUTEK.AE are privileged to present a fitting and timely reminder of why his artistry is so important to modern day club culture.
Another debutant for this edition of MICRO MUTEK.AE is AURORA HALAL (US), an artist that is very much in demand on the more discerning club dancefloors and festival stages, and is due to turn out for Resident Advisor during ADE, Berghain, RBMA Festival in Paris and MUTEK Mexico later this year. Her kaleidoscopic live sets are as formidable as they are emotionally fragile, sensual yet unforgiving, but above all else moving.
Ingrained in the very fabric of MUTEK is Canadian solo artist GUILLAUME & THE COUTU DUMONTS (CA). Forging dynamic yet infectious grooves from an immensely rich palette of sound including jazz, funk, house, techno and electro acoustic music, Guillaume is the epitome of free-formation electronic club music. As musical as they are driving, his sets are a combination of over a decade of releases, live experimentation and performance consolidation that will please the muso’s as much as the clubbers.
Nocturne 2 / Stereo Arcade / 19 October
Introducing one of Japan’s best kept secrets, KUNIYUKI TAKAHASHI (JP), his productions have garnered him many fans over the years, counted amongst them Joe Claussell, Jimpster and Dego of 4 Hero as well as an army of loyal fans who have followed him since his beginnings back in 1994. KUNIYUKI now makes his way to Dubai for his regional debut as part of the second instalment of MICRO MUTEK.AE. Fusing a great many styles and genres in to one immensely lush soundscape.

MICHELA PELUSIO (IT) presents Spacetime Helix
Quantum physics meets audiovisual experimentation. In the audiovisual performance Spacetime Helix, Italian multidisciplinary artist MICHELA PELUSIO combines abstract minimal sounds with her opto-acoustic instrument, which is a suspended sculptural object that contains a standing wave, and is animated by light, sound and touch. A true feast for the eyes as much as the auditory senses.
