Walid provides economic and geopolitical risk analysis on North Africa and the Middle East for EMIR. He also undertakes bespoke consultancy engagements for EMIR’s clients in the region. Prior to joining EMIR, Walid worked as a political risk analyst for two UAEbased advisory firms where he managed consulting and research projects, and produced intelligence reports on the economic and geopolitical dynamics in the region. Walid is currently completing his PhD thesis at the Center for Diplomatic and Strategic Studies in Paris on the role of Political Islam in the Turkish foreign policy in the Middle East. He has written extensively on the region’s geopolitical challenges and is a native Arabic and French speaker.
